South Korea, Poland Agree to Keep Boosting Defense Ties
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk agreed to expand defense cooperation during talks in Seoul, including implementing a framework agreement for defense industry collaboration. Poland signed a $6.5 billion deal last year to purchase K2 tanks from South Korea's Hyundai Rotem Company, part of Poland's military ramp-up following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with defense spending now near 5% of economic output. The leaders also agreed to expand partnership in energy supply chains, infrastructure, and science and technology.
