City councillor pushing for study on impact of Billy Bishop Airport expansion on future housing
Toronto-St. Paul's councillor Josh Matlow has requested city staff urgently study how expanding Billy Bishop Airport to accommodate jets would affect future housing supply on the waterfront, particularly in the Port Lands. He argues jets would require lower building heights and densities, potentially limiting affordable housing projects and impacting neighborhood quality. This comes as the provincial government plans legislation to take over city-owned airport land and declare it a Special Economic Zone to expedite expansion.
