Bengaluru police enhance IPL safety with holding areas, expanded exits, and 2,000 personnel
Bengaluru police conducted a second mock drill at M Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of the IPL season, implementing safety measures following a fatal stampede in 2025. Six new holding areas will accommodate up to 20,000 spectators to prevent road crowding, and 45 exits—nearly double from last season—will be used to avoid bottlenecks. For match days, 2,000 police personnel will be deployed, Metro trains will run until 2 a.m. with increased frequency, and additional parking at 44 Metro stations will be available for ticket holders.
