5 killed as SUV hits auto on Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway
A road accident on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including an autorickshaw driver and four women laborers. The incident occurred when a Mahindra Thar SUV collided with the autorickshaw, causing it to crash into a parked lorry. Five other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital in Chikkaballapura.

699 booked for drunk driving in Bengaluru during week-long police crackdown
During a week-long enforcement campaign from May 25 to May 31, Bengaluru Traffic Police booked 699 motorists for drunk driving after checking over 41,000 vehicles. The operation, which involved personnel from all 53 traffic police stations, also targeted overspeeding, resulting in a total of 1,086 cases registered. A total fine of ₹3.89 lakh was collected from both drunk driving and overspeeding violations, with plans for similar drives in the future to enhance road safety.
