Bengaluru power supply at risk as Centre halts gas to Yelahanka plant amid shortage
Gas supply to Karnataka's 370 MW Yelahanka power plant was halted on March 12 following a Centre notification prioritizing natural gas allocation amid supply constraints from the West Asia conflict. Power generation has been placed in the lowest priority category, receiving supply only after domestic PNG, LPG production, CNG transport, fertilizer, and industrial consumers. The plant primarily supplies electricity to Bengaluru. Karnataka is currently meeting its 355 million unit daily demand through thermal, hydel, renewable sources, and inter-state power procurement, but continued gas restrictions could cause minor disruptions if alternative sources prove insufficient.

Bengaluru businessman murdered in planned abduction; 8 arrested including minors over real estate rivalry
Bengaluru police arrested eight individuals, including two minors, in connection with the kidnapping and murder of real estate businessman Gopal, whose body was found in Hosur, Tamil Nadu on Monday. The alleged mastermind, Mohan Babu, claimed the victim practiced black magic against him, though police say this remains unverified. The investigation reveals a business rivalry: Gopal had previously worked under Mohan in real estate but began operating independently, intensifying tensions. On Sunday, assailants intercepted Gopal's car near Karpur Gate, sprayed a substance on him, and abducted him. The attack appeared carefully planned, and the CID is continuing the investigation.
