Gruha Arogya screening reveals significant NCD burden with district-level variations across Karnataka
Karnataka's Gruha Arogya door-to-door health screening programme screened 41.9 lakh households from August 2025 to January 2026, identifying significant non-communicable disease burden across districts. Screening of over 76 lakh people aged 30+ detected 19.9 lakh hypertension cases and 14.8 lakh diabetes cases. District-level variations were substantial: Belagavi recorded the highest hypertension cases (3.24 lakh), while Bengaluru Urban showed notable disease load despite lower screening coverage. Cancer screening identified 3,964 oral cancer cases, 3,272 breast cancer cases, and 1,658 cervical cancer cases. Health officials emphasize that regional variations necessitate targeted public health strategies rather than uniform approaches, with next phase focusing on continuity of care through primary health centres.
