West Asia war hits Bengaluru roads as bitumen stalls works worth Rs 1,500 crore
Road asphalting projects across Bengaluru have slowed due to a shortage and price increase of bitumen linked to the West Asia conflict, potentially delaying works worth Rs 1,500 crore. Contractors have halted activities, citing a 20% cost rise from Rs 45,000 to Rs 65,000 per tonne, and have requested the civic body to supply the material to proceed. With monsoon approaching, delays could worsen road conditions, leading to potholes and traffic disruptions.
